The Carroll County Senior Activity and Wellness Center is located at 202 W. Madison Ave. in Berryville. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. Lunch is served at noon each weekday. The suggested donation for ages 60 and up is $4. There is a $6 charge for those under 60.

GF board votes to continue esports

Esports may be around for some time at Green Forest High School. Earlier this year, the district board voted to add an esports team to the school’s extracurricular activities on a provisional basis.

Berryville School District to serve local beef

Students in the Berryville School District will be served locally grown beef next year. The district board voted during its meeting on May 16 to approve a contract with Green Forest-based 5Hills Ranch to provide beef for the district.

State auditors find issues with ES finances

State auditors found a number of issues related to Eureka Springs city finances and record-keeping, according to a report presented to a legislative committee. The Arkansas Legislative Audit division presented reports to the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee Standing Committees on Counties and Municipalities, Educational Institutions and State Agencies on Thursday, May 12.

Carroll County Solid Waste Authority customers in Berryville, Eureka Springs and Green Forest will soon see slight increases in their bills, thanks to rising fuel prices. Berryville Mayor Tim McKinney, who also serves as chairman of the Solid Waste Authority board, delivered the news to the city council during its regular meeting on May 17.

Vigil honors BHS grad who died in accident

A vigil in memory of 2022 Berryville High School graduate Matthew Hausman was held Friday, May 20, in front of the school. Hausman, 18, was killed in a one-vehicle accident May 15 on Carroll County Road 601 — just hours after his high school graduation.
