Senior Center Menu

The Carroll County Senior Activity and Wellness Center is located at 202 W. Madison Ave. in Berryville. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. Lunch is served at noon each weekday. The suggested donation for ages 60 and up is $4. There is a $6 charge for those under 60 and all carryout meals. Breakfast is served Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Menus are subject to change.

Pet of the Week

This week’s Pet of the Week is Miles. Miles is a loving, high-energy lab mix that is looking for someone to share his life with. Miles would be great as a solo pet and would be perfect for a young, active family. Miles, and all of the Good Shepherd Humane Society’s adoptables, are available to meet at GSHS’ Adoption Center on Highway 62. The adoption center is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. Submitted photo

Leaving the bunker better than you found it

Golf is the simple, yet complex, game of gentlemen. It is a game of respect and sportsmanship — a civilized sport played with propriety. Our society could learn a great deal from the basic etiquette of golf. It is a game of skill rooted in respect for others and for the course. My husband, Bobby, loves golf and he used to play every day. In fact, he used to make golf clubs for himself and other players. In the last year he has started playing again and is having fun trying to get his game back on track. Two of my nephews hit the links with him when they can.
