Hospital auxiliary celebrates 40 years

Mercy Hospital Berryville Auxiliary celebrated its Ruby Jubilee, 40 years since its reorganization in 1982, at its annual meeting. Dr, Bill Flake was the keynote speaker who related the history of the auxiliary and his mother, Blanche, who was instrumental in the reorganization.

Community Foundation accepting grant applications

Nonprofits in Carroll County can go to www. arcf.org/givingtree to apply online for Giving Tree Grants through Carroll County Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation. Applications must be submitted online by Aug.15.

Local students honored at UAFS

Several Carroll County students have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2022 semester at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, the school has announced. Local students named to the Dean’s List are Marco Garcia Montes, Natalie Roy al and Samantha Witherby, all of Berryville; Hayden Nance of Eureka Springs; and Bianca Rosales and Katherine Tanner, both of Green Forest.

Readers still needed for library program

June kicked off the Berryville Library’s 25,000 Leagues Under the Sea Summer Reading Program. This year, a local family has agreed to donate $1 for each hour read up to $25,000.

The Carroll County Senior Activity and Wellness Center is located at 202 W. Madison Ave. in Berryville. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. Lunch is served at noon each weekday. The suggested donation for ages 60 and up is $4. There is a $6 charge for those under 60 and all carryout meals. Breakfast is served Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Menus are subject to change.

Flint Street fundraiser

A fundraiser for the Flint Street food bank was held June 10 at the Ozark Mountain Hoedown in Eureka Springs. Two tables of non-perishable food items and $863 in cash and checked were raised and presented to the food bank. Eureka Springs Hospital is offering outpatient speech therapy for adults. Speech therapy helps people who have communication difficulties, cognitive deficits and swallowing disorders.

Calvillo joins CS Bank as lender

Cindy Inman, senior vice president and CS Home Mortgage Division manager for CS Bank, has announced the hiring of Sheila Calvillo as home mortgage lender for the local bank’s Berryville office. Calvillo is a native of Berryville, where she lives with her husband and their two daughters.

Teigen named to Arvest Bank board

Arvest Bank has announced the addition of David Teigen to its local board of directors in Eureka Springs. Teigen is the owner of Teigen Insurance and Teigen Properties and has worked in the insurance industry since 1976.
