For the first time in months, the Arkansas Department of Health on Friday, July 8, reported more than 100 active cases of COVID-19 in Carroll County. Friday’s report listed 112 active cases of the novel coronavirus in the county — up from the 85 reported July 1 — and an increase of 67 new cases in seven days.

Eureka Springs Hospital will host its next COVID-19 vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the Eureka Springs Hospital Clinic across the street from the hospital. Moderna and Pfizer vaccines will be available.

A group of citizens will get the opportunity to provide input on a master plan for city parks in Eureka Springs. At its June 21 regular meeting, the Eureka Springs Parks Commission spent a majority of time talking about a planning committee that will be formed to discuss ideas for city parks.

Several Carroll County students have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2022 semester at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, the school has announced. Local students named to the Dean’s List are Marco Garcia Montes, Natalie Roy al and Samantha Witherby, all of Berryville; Hayden Nance of Eureka Springs; and Bianca Rosales and Katherine Tanner, both of Green Forest.

Nonprofits in Carroll County can go to www. arcf.org/givingtree to apply online for Giving Tree Grants through Carroll County Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation. Applications must be submitted online by Aug.15.

Mercy Hospital Berryville Auxiliary celebrated its Ruby Jubilee, 40 years since its reorganization in 1982, at its annual meeting. Dr, Bill Flake was the keynote speaker who related the history of the auxiliary and his mother, Blanche, who was instrumental in the reorganization.

Daughters of the American Revolution participated with Holiday Island Elks Lodge 1042 for the 245th Anniversary of the American flag on June 11. The celebration and ritual included Elks Lodge officers and members, Boy Scout Troop No. 67 and the Daughters of the American Revolution. The American Legion posted the American flags. Arvest Bank has announced the addition of David Teigen to its local board of directors in Eureka Springs. Teigen is the owner of Teigen Insurance and Teigen Properties and has worked in the insurance industry since 1976.

Cindy Inman, senior vice president and CS Home Mortgage Division manager for CS Bank, has announced the hiring of Sheila Calvillo as home mortgage lender for the local bank’s Berryville office. Calvillo is a native of Berryville, where she lives with her husband and their two daughters.
