Water rescue

A family of five was rescued from the rain-swollen Kings River on Sunday afternoon, more than an hour after their boat capsized in the raging waters. According to Ted Hostetler, a team leader with the Mennonite Disaster Services Search and Rescue team, the rescue was complicated by a number of factors, not least of which was uncertainty about the location of the incident.

Top graduates reflect on high school

A year ago, school districts across the nation struggled to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of a worldwide pandemic . The 2021-2022 school year presented a more usual atmosphere as students were able to return to in-person learning, providing some relief for students, parents and teachers alike, and closed out a successful year for the Class of 2022.

Hostetlers honored

Kevin and Teresa Hostetler, along with Kenyon and Josie Hostetler of K&K Farms, were recently selected as the Carroll County Farm Family of the Year by Arkansas Farm Bureau. Selection as Arkansas Farm Family of the Year is based on efficiency of production, conservation of energy and resources, leadership in agricultural and community affairs, home and farm improvement and home and farm management.

Raises coming soon for ES city employees

Many Eureka Springs city employees will soon be getting a bump in salary. No action was taken by the city council on the issue at its regular meeting on Monday, April 25, but after hearing that the city could afford to make many city employee salaries at least $15 an hour, Mayor Butch Berry said the increase would likely go into effect the first pay period of May.
