The family of lifelong Berryville residents Joel and Mildred Gibson presented a check for $25,000 to the Berryville Library Building Project on Friday, May 27. “Our family is excited about this great opportunity of building a new and improved library that will serve the community our parents loved so much,” said daughter Carol Sue Gibson Wooten.

Berryville’s Blitz makes honor roll at ATU-Ozark Hannah Blitz of Berryville has been named to the Honor Roll for the spring 2022 semester at Arkansas Tech University’s Ozark campus. The ATU-Ozark Campus Honor Roll honors students who complete a semester with a GPA between 3.5-3.9.

Eureka Springs Elementary School fourth-graders help celebrate the conclusion of a three-year Professional Learning Communities at Work project funded by the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education during a ceremony Monday, May 16, at the school. The elementary faculty worked with a coaching team from Solution Tree to practice job-embedded professional development. The goal was to develop a collaborative team approach using data to improve professional practices and guarantee more students achieve at high levels. Two more Carroll County residents have died from complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the past week, bringing the local death toll associated with the novel coronavirus to 104. The two additional deaths were the first reported in Carroll County since April 11 and the second-highest weekly death toll since March 21.

A vigil in memory of 2022 Berryville High School graduate Matthew Hausman was held Friday, May 20, in front of the school. Hausman, 18, was killed in a one-vehicle accident May 15 on Carroll County Road 601 — just hours after his high school graduation.

Carroll County Solid Waste Authority customers in Berryville, Eureka Springs and Green Forest will soon see slight increases in their bills, thanks to rising fuel prices. Berryville Mayor Tim McKinney, who also serves as chairman of the Solid Waste Authority board, delivered the news to the city council during its regular meeting on May 17.
