BV Community Center marks 20th anniversary

The Berryville Community Center is turning 20 years old this week. To celebrate, community center staff have been busy planning a Safety and Wellness Expo to mark the occasion, promising to provide “a day of fun for everyone.” “We’re throwing the BCC its own birthday celebration by inviting a host of health and safety experts to visit and provide you and your friends and family with a day of fun, information, giveaways, and more,” BCC staff said in a news release about the event.

Food bank donation

A fundraiser held May 7 by Equity Bank and the Berryville Lions Club resulted in a total donation of more than $500 to the local nonprofit food bank Loaves & Fishes in Berryville last week. ‘Battle of the Banks’ rodeo donation

Representatives from three area FFA chapters joined CS Bank officials earlier this month to present a check to Grandma’s House Children’s Advocacy Center as part of the annual Roughstock Challenge “Battle of the Banks” rodeo fundraising efforts. Water rescue

A family of five was rescued from the rain-swollen Kings River on Sunday afternoon, more than an hour after their boat capsized in the raging waters. According to Ted Hostetler, a team leader with the Mennonite Disaster Services Search and Rescue team, the rescue was complicated by a number of factors, not least of which was uncertainty about the location of the incident.
