Polls open June 14 for runoff

Early voting will begin Tuesday, June 14, for the June 21 Republican preferential primary runoff election. Voters who chose a Republican or nonpartisan judicial ballot in the May 24 primary are eligible to vote in the Republican runoff, as are registered voters who did not vote in the primary.

Legion hosts Memorial Day ceremonies

American Legion Post 9 of Eureka Springs held its annual Memorial Day ceremonies Monday, May 30, honoring the memory of America’s fallen military personnel. Army veteran Vince Eastwood, who served in Operation Desert Storm and is now a board member with Ozark Mountain Veterans, told those in attendance that Memorial Day is not a happy occasion.

Suspect facing charges after high-speed chase

A Berryville man faces a lengthy list of charges after allegedly leading officers on a high-speed chase across the Madison County line in a stolen vehicle. Jacob Odell Treat, 23, was booked into the Carroll County Detention Center in Berryville on Tuesday, May 25, on charges of theft of vehicle, fleeing, reckless driving, driving on a suspended driver’s license, failure to appear, hold for Madison County, criminal mischief, aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident, disregarding traffic signals, failure to yield or stop at sign and failure to use a turn signal.
