Many Eureka Springs city employees will soon be getting a bump in salary. No action was taken by the city council on the issue at its regular meeting on Monday, April 25, but after hearing that the city could afford to make many city employee salaries at least $15 an hour, Mayor Butch Berry said the increase would likely go into effect the first pay period of May.

Charlie Cross, chief executive officer of CS Bank, has announced Deretha Walker’s appointment to the local bank’s Advisory Board of Directors in Berryville. Walker is a former banker with approximately 40 years of experience in the industry.

Freeman Heights Baptist Church in Berryville held its 19th annual AWANA pinewood derby race on April 6. Pre-kindergartners through sixth-graders competed in the event as many more watched.

This week’s Pet of the Week is Buscemi! Buscemi is a senior dog who spent most of his life with one owner. It takes some effort to earn his trust, but he will be a loyal and loving companion once you have it. Buscemi could use a patient home with someone who doesn’t mind a little extra effort earning love.
