Carroll County Circuit Judge Scott Jackson last week ordered Bank OZK, headquartered in Little Rock, to remit more than $400,000 to the registry of the county circuit clerk. The funds, totaling $433,987.10, were collected from Carroll County taxpayers in 2018 and 2019 through an $18 annual fee imposed by the Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District for each real estate parcel in six counties in northern Arkansas.

Plans for a new judicial building for the Eastern District of Carroll County are moving forward. On Friday, May 26, the Carroll County Quorum Court’s Eastern District Judicial Building Steering Committee met with an architect and general contractor to discuss preliminary plans for a judicial building to be located near the Carroll County Law Enforcement Complex on Hailey Road in Berryville.

A Missouri man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Thursday, May 18, in Eureka Springs. Dennis Gacus, 46, of Carl Junction, Mo., was riding a 2023 KTM motorcycle southbound on Arkansas Highway 23 at 3:45 p.m.

Elementary students in the Berryville School District will receive a meal at the end of each school day thanks to a new partnership approved at the district’s monthly school board meeting on Monday, May 15.
