Pirates rally by Bobcats

The Berryville Bobcats suffered another hard-luck loss on Friday, April 21, as the Greenland Pirates pushed across a run in the top of the seventh inning and held on to beat the Bobcats 7-6 at the Berryville Sports Complex.

The Berryville Bobcats suffered their first 4A-West loss of the season on Tuesday, April 18, falling 2-0 at Clarksville. But the Bobcats bounced back just fine, winning 9-1 at Huntsville on Friday, April 21.

Hutson leaving Berryville after two seasons

The Berryville Bobcats will have a new head football coach next fall. Bryan Hutson, who has served as Berryville’s head coach the past two seasons, confirmed last week that he is stepping down to accept a teaching position in the Hot Springs Lakeside School District.

The Green Forest Tigers only had three hits in Friday’s road game against Yellville-Summit, but that was plenty. Pitchers Kasen Robinson and Mason Meador threw a combined no-hitter with 14 strikeouts and the Tigers took advantage of 10 walks and a pair of Panthers errors to cruise to a 6-0 victory.

Berryville junior Emma Taylor got the Lady Bobcats off to a good start in a road game at Elkins on Thursday, April 13, stroking a two-run home run in the first inning to set the tone for a 6-3 victory.

It’s hard to have a much better day at the plate than Green Forest senior Leah Evans enjoyed against Yellville-Summit on Friday, April 14. Evans went 4-for-4, including a pair of home runs, drove in seven runs and scored four times as the Lady Tigers rolled to a 16-9 road victory.

Tigers pick up 2 wins

The Green Forest Tigers remained unbeaten in 3A West conference play and tied for first place with a pair of victories last week. The Tigers defeated Decatur 4-1 on Tuesday, April 11, at Tiger Stadium.

Green Forest sophomore Lydia Russell had quite a day at the Rosson Relays on Thursday, April 13, in Harrison. Russell competed in six events for the Lady Tigers, winning two and placing among the top three in three other events.

Bobcats put up a fight

The Berryville Bobcats lost three baseball games last week, but not without a fight. The Bobcats lost at Gravette by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday, April 11, then were beaten 17-5 on Elkins on Thursday, April 13.

Bobcats pile up hits in win over Green Forest

A big second inning helped the Berryville Bobcats beat the Green Forest Tigers 13-2 on Thursday, April 6, at the Berryville Sports Complex. The Bobcats scored nine runs in the bottom of the second to turn a 2-1 lead into an 11-1 cushion.
