The City of Berryville celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony as Mayor Tim McKinney officially opened its City Pool Park Pickleball Courts. The courts, now open to the public, are located at 500 Basore Ave., adjacent to the Berryville City Pool.
The three newly constructed, lighted courts represent a significant addition to the city’s recreational offerings.
“Pickleball has been the fastest-growing participation sport in the country for several years and I’m excited about making the sport accessible to the local community,” said Jamie Hussey, director of Berryville Parks and Recreation.
The completion of the courts was a collaborative effort involving many across city departments and the broader community. Special thanks were extended to the city council, mayor’s assistant Jay Lee, city treasurer Sally Phillips, the public works department and concrete crew including Kelly Disheroon, parks and rec maintenance manager Zack Hardy and his crew, AQI Electric Jeff Davis, and the citizens of Berryville.
Additionally, the City recognized Arvest Bank of Berryville for its generous contribution to the project. Jodi Hopper, Arvest Bank president, coordinated a significant donation through the Arvest Foundation, facilitated by the Berryville Community Foundation.
A special thank you also goes to Glenn Crenshaw, who hosted a Pickleball Demo Day, offering the community a chance to try new equipment and learn the game.
Leagues and tournaments are currently being organized, and more information, including registration links, can be found on the Berryville Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
