BHS marching band celebrates successful season

Posted

The Berryville High School marching band had another successful season this year bringing home hardware from the West Fork Invitational in West Fork, the War Eagle Classic at Heritage High School in Rogers, the Bobcat Invitational and the ASBOA Region 6 marching assessment at Rogers High School.

The band progressed throughout the season with their presentation of “Dark Horse” and earned high marks that punched their ticket to the state marching contest in Little Rock.

The band competed among 26 other Class 4A schools and earned third place overall.

“We are so proud of the progress of the band this year. Our goal was to hit that superior rating at the state level, and we exceeded that by also grabbing third place,” said Tonya Blevins, director of the marching band.

The band will now prepare for all-region tryouts, the upcoming Christmas concert and the Berryville Christmas Parade. In January, the community will see the basketball pep band in Bobcat Arena cheering on the varsity basketball teams.

The next season for the band is concert season where the band will perform at the ASBOA Region 6 concert assessment in Harrison in March.

“We are excited for concert season and very hopeful that we will qualify for the State concert contest to be held in Cabot,” band director Doug Blevins said.
