BHS wrestlers fare well in Diamond State

The Berryville High School wrestling team competed in the Diamond State Invitational tournament on Jan. 2-3 at at Springdale Har-Ber High School.

The tournament invited teams from all over the southern United States to compete, including schools from Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Tennessee and Florida. A total of 20 boys teams and 19 girls teams competed. Berryville’s Arabella Dominguez, Brooke Phillips, Chayse Anderson, Ciara Ricci and Gelina Pham all placed in the top 10 of their respective weight classes for the Lady Bobcats while Anthony Arrizon, Dakota Lawrence and TJ Wolfe placed in the top 10 of their weight classes for the Berryville boys.

Zydon Ballard, a senior captain who has been with the program since youth wrestling, placed fourth overall in the 285-pound weight class. Ocean Mullins, a senior captain with three years on the team, placed second overall in the 150-pound weight class.

“As the head coach of the boys and girls wrestling teams, I couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments,” Berryville coach Timothy Ingram said. “These athletes work hard to be exceptional both on and off the mat, and tournaments like these are where they get to showcase that discipline. They represented themselves, Berryville High School, and our community as a whole with a great deal of dignity and excellence.”

Berryville hosted Senior Night on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Bobcat Gym, defeating Aurora, Mo., 60-12 in the boys division and 30-18 in on the girls side.

The Bobcat Winter Blowout will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Bobcat Arena.
