The Berryville Bobcats picked up a pair of victories in rivalry games last week, bouncing back from a pair of losses the previous week.
Berryville defeated Green Forest 68-49 at the Grim Gym on Tuesday, Feb. 3, then topped Huntsville 5741 on Friday, Feb. 6 — Homecoming night at Bobcat Arena.
Berryville (20-8, 8-4 4A-1) kept itself in contention for a No. 2 or No. 3 seeding in the 4A-1 district tournament. First, however, the Bobcats have two regular-season games remaining — both on the road in conference play.
Berryville travels to Gentry on Tuesday, Feb. 10, before closing out the regular season at Pea Ridge on Friday, Feb. 13.
The district tournament begins Monday, Feb. 16, at Shiloh Christian in Springdale.
In the Feb. 3 victory at Green Forest, Berryville started fast. The Bobcats outscored the Tigers 19-5 in the first quarter and led 35-22 at halftime.
Senior Peyton Smith scored 17 points for Berryville, with juniors Hudson Norris and CT Hicks adding 16 and 11, respectively. All of Hicks’ points came in the third quarter, when Berryville outscored Green Forest 19-11 to open up a 21-point margin.
Ywa Hay Moo led Green Forest with 12 points.
Back at home against Huntsville three nights later, Berryville led by three points at halftime but pulled away in the second half.
Smith scored 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, while classmate Noah Houghton added 11 in his final game at Bobcat Arena.
Green Forest lost at Gravette, 73-55, on Friday, Feb. 6. Junior Jace Meador scored 21 points and classmate Grady Massengale added 17 for the Tigers (521, 2-10).
