Coach sees bright spots for Berryville

Posted

Despite the lopsided final score of Berryville’s 62-3 loss at Prairie Grove on Friday, Oct. 11, Bobcats coach Macklin Chermak said there were some bright spots for his team.

“The first half was not too bad,” Chermak said. “They started out with a couple of trick plays, and scored on those trick plays. That was it.”

Chermak said Berryville’s offense moved the ball at times.

“We had two good drives, ate up lots of clocks, scored a field goal,” he said, alluding to a kick by Valentin Trujillo. “We kind of shot ourselves in the foot a little bit with a penalty or two that put us behind the sticks. But I would say there were points in the first half where we showed a lot of grit and fortitude.”

Chermak pointed to one sequence where a Berryville running back seemed to be stopped, but a group of Bobcats pushed the pile forward for extra yardage.

“We haven’t seen a lot of that since I’ve been here,” he said. “So that’s pretty awesome.”

Berryville will host Gravette at 7 p..m. Friday at Bobcat Stadium.
