Gravette defeats Bobcats

Posted

The Berryville Bobcats had some success moving the football in last week’s game at Gravette.

But the Bobcats couldn’t convert on multiple scoring opportunities, nor could they slow down the Lions’ offensive attack as Gravette rolled to a 56-7 victory over Berryville on Friday, Oct. 17.

Berryville’s only touchdown came on a pass from junior quarterback CT Hicks to senior receiver Kale Smith.

Hicks passed for 234 yards and junior Andre Esparza had 118 yards receiving for the Bobcats.

“The offense did a good job,” Berryville coach Macklin Chermak said. “We moved the ball quite a bit. We got in the red zone three times and didn’t convert. We missed a field goal, turned it over on downs and threw an interception in the end zone. We were down there a lot.”

The Bobcats, who went 3-0 in nonconference play to open the season, fell to 0-4 in the 4A-1.

Berryville will host Gentry on Friday, Oct. 24, at Bobcat Stadium.
