The Green Forest Tigers did a few things well in a benefit game on the road against Yellville-Summit on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Among those was a football fundamental.
“I thought we tackled really well,” Tigers coach Dalton Ewing said. “That’s half of football. It’s blocking and tackling, so if we can tackle well, then we should be all right.”
Senior linebacker Jace Meador led the Green Forest defense, Ewing said, making several tackles and forcing a fumble.
Offensively, Ewing said the game was a learning experience for Green Forest’s offensive line. Still, Ewing said the Tigers’ ballcarriers showed potential to make big plays.
“You can see the explosiveness from them,” he said.
Green Forest will open the season Friday, Sept. 4, hosting Greenland at Tiger Stadium.
