Green Forest’s Kaylyn Smith turned in a dominant performance with two event victories to lead Carroll County athletes at the Senior Anstaff Relays on the Lady Tigers’ home track on Thursday, April 9.
Smith won the long jump (15-3) and triple jump (34-5) while also finishing second in the 200-meter dash (27.65) and 400-meter dash (1:03.47) and placing third in the 100 meters (13.62). She added a third-place finish in the shot put (30-3) to cap one of the meet’s most complete individual performances.
Teammate Mariana Ortega recorded a runner-up finish in the discus (77-9), while Emily Sales placed third in the 3200-meter run (15:14.93).
Berryville’s Kale Smith also claimed an individual title, winning the boys long jump with a leap of 18-2. He added a second-place finish in the triple jump (38-7.5).
For the Lady Bobcats, Chany Fairweather placed third in the high jump (4-10) and finished fifth in both the long jump (14-1.75) and triple jump (29-7.75). Bella Biggerstaff recorded fifth-place finishes in the discus (71-5) and shot put (27-0).
Green Forest’s Andrix Ryan finished second in the 110-meter hurdles (19.66) to lead the Tigers’ boys results. Silas Sparkman placed third in the shot put (38-3), Kason Compton was fourth (37-11), and Grady Massengale finished fifth in the discus (101-6).
Eureka Springs’ Addie Blackwelder earned a second-place finish in the pole vault (6-6), while Anna Vaverka placed fifth in the 1600-meter run (6:43.25).
For the Highlanders, Yohannes Piepho finished third in the 1600 (5:12.67), and Dakota Linder placed fifth in the pole vault (8-6).
