Green Forest senior Kaylyn Smith turned in the top performance among Carroll County athletes at the Senior Goblin Rosson Invitational track and field meet Thursday, April 16, in Harrison, winning one event and placing in three others.
Smith captured the triple jump title with a leap of 35 feet, 0.5 inches, setting a career record and qualifying for the Class 4A statr meet. She added a runner-up finish in the long jump (15-8.75) and a second-place finish in the 200 meters (27.72). She also placed third in the 400 meters (1:05.10), accounting for four top-three finishes on the day.
Green Forest added another event title in the girls shot put, where Kaylyn Smith’s younger sister, junior Kinly Smith, took first with a throw of 32-9.00. Lorena Ortega contributed a sixth-place finish in the 3,200 meters (21:34.32).
On the boys side, Andrix Ryan turned in a fifth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (19.71), while Franklin Lopez placed seventh in the 800 meters (2:24.26) to narrowly miss the top five.
Berryville also produced several strong finishes, led by Keily Diaz, who placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (18.73) and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. Chaney Fairweather added a third-place finish in the high jump (4-10.00) and took fifth place finish in both the long jump and triple jump.
Bella Biggerstaff recorded a fourth-place finish in the shot put (29-8.00), while Berryville’s 4x100-meter relay team finished third.
For the Berryville boys, junior John Butler highlighted the field events with a runner-up finish in the triple jump (39-8.50) and added a fifth-place finish in the long jump. Kevin Arrizon placed fourth in the 800 meters (2:22.25), while senior Kale Smith finished fourth in the long jump (19-4.50). Senior Zander Borkowski added a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters.
Eureka Springs was led by Addie Blackwelder, who won the girls pole vault with a clearance of 7-0.00 and added an eighth-place finish in the high jump. The Lady Highlanders’ 4x200-meter relay team placed fourth.
Lidia Kania contributed a fifth-place finish in the pole vault and competed in multiple distance events.
Dakota Linder paced the Eureka Springs boys with a fifth-place finish in the pole vault (8-6.00).
