Library is a valuable resource to community

Posted

Dear Editor, As we celebrate National Friends of the Library Week, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the critical role our local library plays in improving the quality of life for everyone in our community.

Libraries, like the Berryville Public Library, are far more than places to check out books. They are centers of learning, inclusivity and connection. In today’s world, where information and health literacy are more important than ever, a library provides access to resources that help individuals better understand their own health and well-being. This can improve health outcomes and lead to a more informed, healthier population overall.

Moreover, for young people, a library sparks curiosity and a love for learning. Early exposure to educational materials, particularly in the sciences, helps build the foundation for future careers— including those in health care, which are so critical to the well-being of our community. A good education creates an employable workforce, which is key to the growth of sectors like ours.

Mercy Hospital Berryville is proud to support the new library project, and I believe that the resources it will provide will continue to shape our community for generations to come. With your continued support, we are very close to making this vision a reality.

Sincerely, Darren Caldwell Administrator Mercy Hospital Berryville
