The Berryville High School cross country team hosted the annual Bobcat Back 40 meet on Saturday, Oct. 5, and Carroll County was well-represented.
Green Forest’s Arauny Reyes finished first among runners representing Class 3A and 4A schools in the boys division. Reyes covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17 minutes, 17.59 seconds.
Berryville placed five runners among the top 10 Class 3A-4A boys finishers.
Malachi Houghton was second (18:05.51). The Bobcats took fourth through sixth place, respectively, with Oliver Bemis (18:41.22), Carson McMellon (18:58.88) and Noah Houghton (19:05.93). Zander Borkowski (19:31.40) was eighth.
Green Forest’s Eduardo Mendoza (19:32.45) was 10th among 3A-4A boys.
Berryville won the 3A-4A boys team competition, with Green Forest taking second place.
On the girls side, Berryville sophomore Kai Killingsworth finished second among Class 3A-4A runners in a time of 21:30.03. Teammate Astralia Amos (23:07.49) was fifth. Green Forest’s Kayla Lozano (24:51.65) finished eighth and the Lady Tigers’ Emily Sales was ninth.
Berryville took second place in the Class 3A-4A girls team standings.
