United Country Real Estate, one of the nation’s oldest real estate networks specializing in rural and small-town properties, is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025.
As part of the centennial, historical records are being revisited to highlight the company’s longstanding presence in local communities including Berryville, which played a role in the company’s early growth.
United Country was founded in 1925, and the rrs company catalog was published in 1928, listing local offices and agents from across the country. Berryville appears in that very rrs catalog, represented by J.E. Daniel, suggesting the office was established by at least 1928 and possibly earlier.
In the years that followed, the Berryville office continued operations

under a number of different brokers. Archival catalogs and ledgers show a succession of names: Ray C. Bryant in 1936, R.L. Riley (later listed as R.I. Riley) from 1938 to 1942, Geo. R. Dashiell through World War II, and Earl C. Powell and Reed M. Harryman into the early 1950s.
More detailed records from the 1960s onward show continued activity in the area, with office leadership passing

through a number of local hands including Tim Howard (1954– 1972), Lexie Sullivan, Bob and Dinah Ensor, Theresa Henderson and later Corey Schneider, who managed the Berryville/ Eureka Springs area through much of the 1990s.
Operations continued into the 21st century under Todd Summers beginning in 2007. In 2021, the local office transitioned to its current leadership under Ashley Hinton. The office is located at 110 E. Madison Ave.
Though office names and agents have changed over the years and some of the history is missing because of mergers and partnerships with the Eureka Springs office franchise, the consistent thread is Berryville’s ongoing connection to United Country’s mission: working in small towns and rural communities with a focus on land, farms, homes and recreational property — a niche the company pioneered and has maintained for a century.
The Berryville office’s long history reflects not only United Country’s national legacy but also the importance of local institutions in the story of American real estate. As the organization marks its 100-year milestone, Berryville remains part of that story.
