Donna Darlene Howerton

Donna Darlene (Ayers) Howerton, age 67 of Berryville, AR, peacefully passed on April 12, 2026, at 7:54 pm in Gulf Breeze, Florida, 361 days following her husband. Her greatest treasure was being a mom, wife, and nanny.  

On June 3, 1977, Donna married her true love, Terry Howerton.  Donna worked as a quality engineer for 38 years at Ducommon-Labarge. Donna was an honest, kind, humble, hardworking woman who showered her family and friends with unconditional agape love. She provided her family with a solid foundation in Christ.  She adored her boys and grandkids. She was the definition of a Proverbs 31 woman, full of valor, wisdom, and strength. 

On February 16, 1959, Donna was born to Peggy “Jody” (Boggs) Ballard and Dwight (Slim) Ballard in Breckenridge, Texas.  She is survived by her sons, Chase and wife Crystal of Berryville, AR, Chance and wife Stephanie of Gulf Breeze, FL, grandchildren Cambry, Creed, and Chloe, along with Avery and Oliver, mom Peggy Ballard, brother James Ballard, and many other family and friends.  

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Terry; her dad, Dwight (Slim) Ballard; her mom-in-love, Opal (Jennings) Howerton; her sister, Glenda Riley; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Sue Elmore, and Travis Riley. 

Funeral service is 10:00 am, Friday, April 24, 2026, at Towering Oaks Church, with graveside following at Snow Cemetery in Berryville, AR.  Reverend Larry Montgomery, Dave McMellon, and Josh Shields are officiating.  

 

Pallbearers honoring Donna are Chase Howerton, Chance Howerton, Jimmy Jennings, Jordan Parton, Brian Jones, and Danny Bolinger.  

 

In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Snow Cemetery Fund, 608 Apple Street, Green Forest, Arkansas 72638.  Arrangements under the direction of Nelson's Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to nelsonfuneral.com.
