James Fancher Roberts, a revered cattle farmer, family patriarch, and devout Christian, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, in Springdale, Arkansas, at the age of 91. Born on January 27, 1933, in Conner, Arkansas, to the late Johnnie and Mattie (Fancher) Roberts, James’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, faith, and family.

James’s journey through life was shared with his beloved wife of 71 years, the late Billye Sue Roberts, who predeceased him. Together they built a life filled with love and laughter, and their legacy continues through their daughters, Suellen Butler and her husband Rusty, Louann Smith and her husband Steve, Beth Kimber and her husband Dave, and Janelyn Roberts and Roger. James was a cherished grandfather to BJ Butler, JR Butler, Buffy Howle and her husband Clint, Phylicia Chaney and her husband Pete, Jerod Doss and his wife Kayla, and he was blessed to see the joys of his great-grandchildren, Billy Jack Butler and Tabby, Hinton Butler, Carson Howle, Claire Howle, Parker Chaney, Piper Chaney, Phorrest Chaney, Prim Chaney, Adalee Doss, Emmarae Doss, Hunter Doss, and Perry Doss. His heart was also touched by the lives of his grandson, James Elmore and his grandson, Jacob Doss, who both preceded him in death, as did his sister, June Ayers and brother, Tim Roberts.

A man of the land, James dedicated his life to cattle farming. He created a legacy by building their purebred angus cattle herd over a lifetime. His love for horses was more than a hobby; it was a way of life. James spent countless hours riding and enjoying a good hard-working horse, finding peace and purpose in their company.

James loved his family deeply. He was a pillar of strength, always ready with a listening ear or words of wisdom. His love was unconditional, his support unwavering, and his presence a comforting constant. He instilled in his family the importance of integrity, kindness, and perseverance, lessons that will continue to guide them.

His faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his existence. James was a lifelong Christian. His faith was not merely spoken but lived, as he walked in the light of God’s love, inspiring those around him to do the same.
