Jerry Lee Carlton

Posted

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Jerry Lee Carlton, who passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 87 at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, Arkansas.

Jerry was born on May 31, 1937, in Clyde, Texas to Paul M. Carlton and Annie Dell Hubbard Carlton. On February 16, 1957, Jerry was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Patsy Ann Peden in Blue Eye, Arkansas. They were blessed to have been married 66 years before her passing.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force between the years of 1956-1965 as an aircraft mechanic. After his military service, Pat and Jerry made their home in Oak Grove, Arkansas where they lived out the rest of their days. They were blessed with four children.

Jerry worked for Tysons for 33 years as a knife technician, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication and a reputation as one of the most skilled knife sharpeners in the area, with many bringing their knives to him even after retirement.

Jerry was an avid golfer during his retirement. He competed and won many local tournaments. One of his proudest moments was a hole-in-one while golfing with his oldest grandson. He also taught several of his grandchildren the game of golf. His many hobbies and interests also included: gardening, cutting firewood, Elvis, tinkering on cars and being the ultimate “do-ityourselfer”. He passed many of these skills down to his children and grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; parents, sisters, Betty Bentley, Pauline Meyers, Virginia Peterson; brother, Kenneth Carson; and son-in-law, Bruce Robinson. He is survived by his twin sister, Mary L. Higdon of Sacramento, California; sons, Jackie Carlton (Janita) and Jerry Dale Carlton (Jacklynn) both of Green Forest, Arkansas; daughters, Leanne Robinson of Lexington, Oklahoma and Lisa Martin (Ed) of Edmond, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren: Jerrod (Kristie), Josh (Ally), Janessa (Kyle), Ashleigh, Alyssa, Andrea (Andrew), Reece (Dez), Parker, Amber (Gustavo), Alaina (Nathaniel), Charity and Aaron. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Malachi, Kenzie, Kaden, Everlyn, Samuel, Caroline, Sienna, Adrian, Nicolas, and Abram. Other close family members include Lois Peden, Jack and Debbie Peden, Mervin and Elaine Church, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved cat, Annie.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 5:007:00 p.m. Nelson’s Chapel, Green Forest, Arkansas. Celebration of life will be held Wednesday, April 30, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Goins officiating.
