SteelyRosemary Steely of Berryville was born October 7, 1932, in Norphlet, Arkansas, to Elbert and Anna (Collins) Mauney. Rosemary passed away November 28, 2024, in Bentonville at the age of 92.
Rosemary, affectionately known to her family and friends as “Rosie”, grew up on a small family farm in Norphlet, Arkansas, and graduated from Norphlet High School. She went on to get her college degree in business education from Southern State College, now Southern Arkansas University.
Rosie began her career teaching business courses at Emerson Public Schools where she met her future husband, Arthur Steely. She later made the decision to stay home and raise her family. Rosie enjoyed sewing, cooking for family and friends, gardening, canning vegetables, working in the yard enjoying the outdoors , and watching or listening to the Razorbacks. Vacations were spent camping with family and visiting extended family along the way. Later in life she enjoyed sitting outside watching the birds and the squirrels and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending their activities. Rosie was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Emerson and a loving stay at home mom for many years.
Rosie is survived by her children, Melanie (Steely) Rhone and husband Bobby of Berryville, Kean Steely and wife Carolyn of Shell Knob, Missouri, Deana Steely of Pea Ridge; brother, James E. Mauney and wife Susan of Little Rock; grandchildren, Anna (Steely) Guilkey and husband Jon of Springdale, Ethan Steely and Rebecca White of Newmarket, New Hampshire; great-grandchildren, Luke and Simeon Guilkey of Springdale; bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Megan Baker and husband Drew of Magnolia and their children Olivia, Charlotte, Sadie and Duke, Lori Zelle and husband Matt of Conway and their children Nate and Nolan; sisters-in-law, Bobbilene Mauney of El Dorado, Sandy Mauney of Memphis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws, all of which she dearly loved.
She is preceded by her parents, Elbert and Anna Mauney; husband, Arthur Watts Steely; brothers, Frank Mauney and wife Joann, Jerry Mauney, Richard Mauney; sisters, Betty June (child) Mauney, Ann Davis and husband James, Harriet Aiken and husband Carl.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia, Arkansas. Memorial service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m.
